Hi all, Thought I would post this in the attempt to try and help those looking at the differences between the JF 15400 and a gen. I know there has already been a rep vs gen on the same watch, but I believe that was on a BP version, and we all know JF is currently the king of AP's. So on to the pics, gen on the left. Recently picked up my grail watch, AP 15400ST boutique Blue and thought I’d do a quick gen vs rep mini-review for the community. I’ve done a few mini gen.
Perhaps the JF15450 minute markers are 10% more crisp but then again the 15400 is 10% larger (hence the minute markers are longer and therefore the non-crisp paint application is more evident). Here's my TF 15400 dial for reference (easy to tell that this dial is from a completely different maker). The general consensus is the ZF still the better overall package for the 15400 (better dial tappisserie and finishing) whereas the only benefit of the APSF is the clone movement but it's not a completely functioning movement as per gen. Royal Oak 15400 is one of the best-selling Audemars Piguet replica watches here, it is a very classic model, many people consider such an entry-level model when they are going to choose their first replica watch. About 15400, it is also one of the replica watches that is closest to genuine, I think it should be on the list of top ten replica . Z+F got 10mm. This is great news! The movement is still plated, but much better than JF’s attempt. Dial: blue color is not great (too bright), but tapisserie is good - has 11 ‘bumps’ per square, and JF up until V5 had 9-10 bumps per square. Black dial looks good.
a. ZF is better in terms of size accuracy. b. JF is better in terms of finishing. Apart from those mentioned above, which one would you consider and what dial colour? Thanks. Reply. Award.
JF does/did produce 15400 up to v5 if I recall. They were the best available 15400 reps until ZF
Royal Oak 15400 has a very simple design, so it is always the hottest model for various watch manufacturers to replicate.
